female panther behavior changes

smalizards Sep 29, 2004 12:54 PM

Can anyone tell me if and how the behavior will change if she is gravid before they are ready to lay. She is still eating, but she has started basking more her color has gotten darker and she has been sleeping more. The other thing is we just changed plants in her cage. Any Advice?
p.s. the plant was cleaned and is the same type as before

A good indicator is that right before laying they usually start to dwell more around the bottom of the cage looking for a place to dig and lay the eggs. If they don't find a place to dig, theu might start scratching the cage.

The best thing to do is to weight the female right after she copulates with the male as they will gain a lot of weight.

hope this helps you.
