Thank you very much for the advice on digital cameras. I have not experimented much with it, but it is a world of difference from my old panasonic.

I ended up getting a factory refurbed coolpix 4300. I got a pretty good deal on it from an online camera dealer called hot buy electronics.

So far I am super happy with it. It does not make my snakes stay still for photo shoots though!
