I was cleaning out some old fish supplies the other day and ran across a 2 pound bag of spirulina flake. Well I decided to try it crushed and sprinkled on my beardies greens. They loved it! Is anyone feeding this as a supliment?

I have never bought pure spirulina , but is also used as a color enhancer for collared lizards. Very healthy!
I may look into it, more so than just the fish food, as I breed collareds.

I looked a bit last night, 60% protien and not one bad thing that I could find about it. It seems that a great deal of zoos use it to suppliment the diets of all sorts of animals. I am surprised that I have not heard of using this with beardeds sooner. I have a new clutch that for some reason prefers eating greens to live prey so I have started all of them with spirulina enhanced greens, we will see what happens.

I'm sure it would have the same affect on dragons but that could backfire on you.....
Lets say you use it on your adults & they get awesome! Now, people buying their babies will expect the babies to be awesome too, thinking it's genetic.
Also, if you are feeding it to the babies & it has enhanced their color and you sell them. Now, if the new owner doesn't use it, the color will be fading & you might have some unhappy customers.
Just my opinion on color enhancing.

I was more interested in the protien content, I have not really sold dragons to anyone but friends so that part does not matter much to me. This batch will be getting a bunch of spirulina so we will see.

just was told it can enhance color.
So I figured I would feed the fish food that contains it, to my crickets, in which all my reptiles eat.
I have used that fish food as one of my crickets foods, for over a year.

It's a part of some of the available gut loads on the market like the green cubes that natures Zone makes as well as the product www.cricketfoo.com makes.. Been using It a few years now as it is added to the mixes in small amounts just like beta carotene. Sure you'll get change in color, but I haven't noticed it with the small quantities added to the gut loads, and just by gut loading with it. Never have used it straight as a garnish on veggies or anything though... I figure they get protein from the live feeders or the pellets why would you want to supplement for it when it has everything you can provide with a normal diet.. Never really looked into it myself.. What benefits do you feel it has?? Just wondering as what your trying to provide by feeding it in larger doses?? Let us know how it goes please.

This clutch of babies seems to prefer greens to live prey (I am sure that may change quickly) So I thought that the high protien from the spirulina might be of some benefit. Also when I added it to the greens it coated and stuck well and the little guys loved it. I will see how this goes.
