Introducing 2 Anacondas

ben_renick Sep 29, 2004 09:17 PM

I'm getting a new male green tomorrow, I want to just introduce it to the female, just get them out together, and see how they react. Any suggestions to how to do it, or just pretty much get them out together and let them crawl on and around eachother? I just don't want a huge anaconda brawl

When I got the male from Kelly I brought them both outside and into a kiddie pool that had been sun warmed for awhile. They both would sniff each other. The female made me a little nervous but nothing happened then or since then.

What is the nature of the two? Are they agressive feeders? My green will not think twice about food if I have her out with me and I have put her in a cage with garters before with no problems while I was cleaning hers. But if you put a garter in her cage and keep outside disturbances low...good luck stopping that battle. Its a high risk and I would know your snakes well first. I think it may be alright if you have two similar sized anacondas (ariks green is big enough to laugh at a baby and would not think it is worth the time since it cant even wrap around it). But be aware you are taking a level of risk.

You would be surprised..those garter are faster and more stringy...they can get out of little loops the conda throws (but the anaconda being much stronger was able to hold one strong loop with the small part of her tail onto the garters tail...I was surpised because this was at times the only part holding the garter in) and when I witnessed this the anaconda only bit once and kept her head out of the fight the rest of the time. The garter did not. It lasted over 7 hours! I would say thats a good fight the garter put up.
