Sorry so many posts, but conda might have parasite or problem..

ben_renick Sep 29, 2004 11:08 PM

My conda has been acting really weird lately, she has pooped twice today, and has been pooping like everyday, I saw nothing different about her poo when I examined it, but I just changed her water and she actually snapped at me, she doesn't even snap at her food, so do you think she would be stressed out, or maybe a parasite? She is really really active too, like all over her cage. If she loses more weight (shes fine width, but was a lot fatter before, maybe just because of the pooping), she is going strait to the vet. But a lot of the vets around here, don't really know the difference between boas and pythons, so I'm hoping that's not that case (pet stores around here are more help actually) Her humidity is fine, along with her hot and cold side of the cage. Her cage is 8' long 3' wide x 2' high, she has a water bowl big enough to soak in, not swim, but soak, I take her out at least once a week and put her in a bathtub to swim around. She is eating a large rat every 4-5 days, she is also about 6/7' long. She has a branch to climb on which she will take advantage of from time to time. There is also a little rock thing on the other side of the cage that isn't in the picture. Any openion is helpful

I don't know what the deal might be with your snake, but you sure have one nice setup! Did you build it yourself,or did you have someone build it? Anyway, those cages look great.

I actually bought the peices pre-cut from a place called Serpents By Design (they are in the classifieds under "monster cages" They cost about the same as an 8' enclourse built from wood. They are only like $400... But you still have to put it all together, which doesn't take too much time, per cage it was about 2 to 3 hours.

I would not worry about the pooping. For a snake with a slow metabolism...they sure poop a lot. You are concerned about higher activity? And maybe the snap just was a catch off guard. My opinion would be there is a temp change. If they get too cool or too hot they will try and find a way to change it. I have taken a hit when I tried to work around a snake that had just had enough moving around and temp drops. She wanted some warm water right that second and she was done putting up with me. It will be very hard to find a vet that knows about green anacondas. Good luck.
