Well we had this same problem with larry when we first got him. We started out by getting a pick of tupperware from walmart and cutting a hole in the top so that larry could get in and out of it. then we lined the bottom with moss and put just a little bit of water in there so that it stayed nice and moist, then we just put larry in and put the moss in the tank with him... After a few hours he would crawl out of the box and back under his hide, then we also give him a bath once a day for about 20 minutes and between the humidity box and the baths he sheds great.. after he sheds we take the humidty box out and go back to only bathing him every Friday for 15 minutes. He does perfect now though... Since he is in a 40 gallon glass tank with plexiglass over the screen tops to keep humidty high, its hard to get humidty right in aquariums but... this seems to work for us.. hope it was helpful

I would get him to the vet if you found blood though... I dont know why that would be like that....

This isn't to contridict anything Rose said or to say it was wrong or anything, I just do things a little differently, and we all need different perspectives to see what works best.

I put the hole in the side. That way the humidity condenses on the lid and drips back down onto the moss.
I also leave the humidity box in there at all times. That way, they can regulate their humidity when they need it. I never have to bathe/soak my snakes, and their skin's always pretty.

3 of my snakes are in screen-topped aquariums. I never mist my cages or cover the top or anything, and I always have complete sheds, as long as I keep the humidity up in the box. It's a lot easier to keep humidity up in those little tupperware bowls than an entire cage.

Well, make him a humidity box, first off. I always reccomend them. Get a Tupperware bowl, cut a holw in the side, and put moist sphagnum moss (you can get it at most pet stores) in it.

Now, to help with this current shed, put him in a box with a damp towel for, say, an hour. That should loosen the skin. Then you should be able to (GENTLY!) rub off the unsked skin.

And what's this about blood?! Could you elaborate?

I'll try that towl thing now but when you say box what do you mean? like a big one in his tank with holes in or some thing else?

Personally, I use a Sterlite storage drawer (they're all of $5 or $6). It's waterproof, and it's big enough for my bigger snakes plus a towel.

I've also used those disposable GladWare things with a hand towel for my smaller snaks.

Was the blood around his vent? If so, that's allright. Many snakes bleed a little around their vent during shedding. (When I saw it the first time it also scared me.) As long as it's just a little bit and everything looks allright there's no need to worry.
