As far as care goes, chams will cost a lot mroe in the long run both time and$ than a dragon. Chams tend to be fussier eaters, need special watering (dragons drink from a dish) and can't really be held much, if at all. Desert tanks can look just as nice as cham cages. Lighting is about the same... It mostly comes down to ease of care and handling. Chams need a lot more attention and more difficult to maintain habitats.

if you want a good handeling pet a bearded dragon is the way to go. i have one and he is so fun. they dont get as stressed as easy as chams. and are alot easier to make happy. they dont mind sitting with you and watching tv for long periods of time, are very comical to watch, and just an all around great pet. i wouldnt trade mine for the world.

Besides the animals themselves, think about how much time you have daily to spend on them, and whether you would rather be out doing other things (longer days at work, school, recreation away from home, trips on weekends, etc). If an animal that only needs a few minutes a day will fit your schedule better, choose the beardie. If you are someone who enjoys fussing and tinkering with a more technical setup you may like the cham better. I know one of the things about chams that appeal is the creation of a more detailed and interesting setup. But for others it is just too much hassle for an animal that doesn't even "like" them.
