Help! Nigricollis has digital dermatitis!!!

Jaffo Sep 30, 2004 05:38 PM

My spitter has raw, flakey skin between his toes, and it's starting to be detrimental to feeding. If I feed him live, he keeps tripping over one foot as he tries to guard the other one. If I feed him prekilled, he sometimes starts swallowing his infected foot before he finds the dead rodent. Any ideas?

Also, his venom tastes a little funny lately. Is urine an appropriate neutralizer for nigricollis venom in the event that my tounge swells, or perhaps I can't taste citrus juice anymore??

(By the way, this post is for all my old forum buddies around here. Wussup, y'all? Hope all is well!)

Any of you new 'experts' go ahead and take a crack at this one... or just give me a bunch of crap if you want to. It doesn't matter much.

Jaffo

He hath arisen, but from the depths and the ash, to cast a gaze upon humanity....and envelope thine hope in a haze of despair....

Welcome back Jaff....It's been too long.

I think that if you soak it in a mixture of oatmeal, powdered sugar and lemon juice it will forget about its itching toes. I prescribe one teaspoon of freshly ground gingko biloba seeds in honey administered by mouth to your Nigricollis once every two hours for five days. And give it a warm bath containing Dead Sea salts and milk twice a day. I don't think you will be worrying about it at the end of those five days.

Back in 2000, at the Columbia show, I bought a pair of Southern Hognose snakes for 6 grand. Though not an abberantly colored pair, the kicker was that they were both heterozygous for having legs. If this was true, then 50% of the offspring should have been legged and 50%, legless. AFTER 4 YEARS, none of the offspring have grown legs! I want my money back despite the fact that MsTT said that their genetics justified the extra cost.

Honestly, though... if I ever had 6 grand to slap down on a pair of snakes, First: there'd be and investigation as to how I came up with so much money ... and Third: I'd have to be a loon to spend it in the first place!

Nice seeing you again online, Jaffo. Enjoyed our chat last night, too. DEEP SEA(or was that Deep Dish?) FISTING!

Jaffo,

I am somewhat upset to here you have let your husbandry standards fall to the point that you may allow your Black necks to aquire fungal growths.

Good to here you are still about mate.

Yeah, I keep the bastard in the bathroom, hoping to offer a higher level of humidity. But he keeps hanging his feet in the toilet bowl. Can't be good.

I think the resolution to this is easy: SOCKS. Ya think Midwest sell any of those Cobra Socks?

Good to see ya Scott. It has been a while, man.
