A a LiL pet 4 my sis

Spotted_Leopard Jun 27, 2003 11:30 AM

Ok, here's the situation. My little sister is eight years old, and when my dad bought me my aquarium, he bought a smaller one-I think a five gallon, it's measurements are 12 in.-length, 6in.-width, and about 8 1/2 in.-height. Since I'm getting a gecko, she wants a small pet, too.

It needs these five things:

1. She can pick it up and handle it
2. It will be easy to care for-cleaning, feeding, ect.
3. It HAS to be cute.
4. It can't be over a foot long, she needs something small
5. The animal is not prone to biting.

Do you know any lizards like that?

We thank you in advance...Jaz&Jayda

I don't think there are any lizards that would be happy in a 5 gallon... if there are, they'd be too tiny to fit the requirements. She couldn't just get a second leopard gecko?

Its hard to meet 1 requuirments for a animal living in a 5 gallon, handling.most animals that live in a 5 gallon are small and can get away when handled. If you must get something for a 5 gallon I would recomend a pictus gecko or 2 as they are relatively small and make sure you get 2 females or a 1 of each because males fight other males.they will allow short periods of handling too and dont bite although they dont really have brite colors they are still cool looking.another option is to get a juvenile lizard and keep it in a 5 gallon and when it gets big enough get a 10 gallon because alot of lizards can live in ten gallons.hope this helps

No such animal, sorry.

Why don't you get a 20 gallon long tank and get two adult female geckos, one for her and one for you?

Or you could get her a beanie baby chameleon to keep in her tank.

A baby ball python might be a possibility, but it would out-grow the tank.
