Question about expos and prices

gurnham4 Sep 30, 2004 10:23 PM

Hello everyone,

With the recent passing of my gecko (i bought him/her when it was sick and there was nothing for me to do) I have decided to get an adult leopard gecko. I like the plain leopard geckos and the snow leopard geckos. I will be attending the VA lizard expo at the end of october. How much should an adult snow leopard/plain leopard go for at one of these shows? Do I get a better deal if I carry around cash? Should I go early (does the early bird really get the worm?)

Don't know on price. Usually regular price and cheaper from my experiences.

Cash is good, get a receipt though in case of problems.

Early is good and bad. You get your pick of the best at the beginning, but some people will make deals near the end if they don't want to take animals home.

Remember, buying something at a show doesn't gaurantee it is going to be healthy but you stand a better chance than at a petstore. Good luck at the show.

snows can be a bit high, around 60$-100$, normals are always cheap at shows, 20$-40$, look for full tails, bright eyes, and ask the breeder lots of questions, goiod luck

Mind listing some good questions to ask (so i don't make th mistake in buying another sick gecko)

If i find that I liek two geckos and they are from the same breeder, is it ok to take them home and put them in the same cage or should i still seperate for 30 days?

If I buy two leos i should seperate them for the first 30 days right?

ask what he feeds them, if their guarnteed healthy, ask him for a bussiness card so you can get in touch with him if something happens, ask if you could hold it (to inspect its eyes and tail)

if you end up geting two from the same person it is necessary to quarentine for at least 30 days, all geckos can get sick

if you need anythimng else you know my screen name
