How Did it Die?

turtlesong Oct 01, 2004 07:24 AM

I bought a froglet at the pet store two days ago. It was a bullfrog, from what I gathered. Well, the first day I bought it I fed it a couple of mealworms and a worm. It ate like a pig. I think it also ate some live freshwater shrimp I had in the tank.

But the next day it wouldn't eat. I thought it was just fasting. The day after that it didn't eat either, so I put it in a heated tank, thinking its metabolism was slowing down. Still it wouldn't eat. Then, that night, I put it back in its old, unheated tank, went out for a couple of hours, and when I came back it was dead!!

I don't know what happened. Could it have been the mealworms? Are these okay to feed baby froglets? Was it a tainted worm? I'm stumped.

events like these happen almost every day... they seem to be mysteries

i agree, unexplaned deaths are the worst. My albino aquatic frog kicked the bucket yeterday as well for no aperent reason and he waws still very small. Sometimes my chiclids go crazy andd die also. It is almost like the have a heart attack. Good luck, don;t be discouraged

well this might be a bit late getting back to you. But changing it between the hot and cold so fast could of killed it, the shrimp could also contained parts that the frog couldnt digest and cloged it up so it wouldnt eat anymore.
