Two REALLY dumb questions, but I still need them answered....

1. How often do you have to clean out the ENTIRE cage? Just not the bathroom area or the water bowl!

2. Where do you put the gecko while you are cleaning its cage? In a seperate one? They never cover this on gecko lover websites....

Thanks...Jaz

i normally change the substrate every 2-3 weeks and that's when i normally scrub down the whole tank, and i have separate tanks so i keep them in other tanks while i clean

I use paper towels as a substrate so I replace that every 3-4 days, and I wipe the whole tank down every other week. If no one is here to hold them while I clean the tank I use one of those critter carriers to hold them since they are all in separate tanks anyways.

1) I clean the entire bedding when it is soiled...if it is not soiled then I don't clean it. I just remove the toilet area piece and replace it.

2) I just let my leos run around on the top of a stool when I'm cleaning...or I put a hide down so they go under the hide.

I remove the feces about twic a week by removing the newspaper with the feces and layig down new newspaper, and then every 2-3 weeks I give it an in the room scrub down with some light washer then wipe down with a wet paper towel, then dry.

Two to three times a year I clean every leopard gecko cage in my room, as well as every food dish, water bowl and hide box using bleach.

When I'm doing the in room scrub down, the geckos are usually in their humid hide, so I remove all the cage furniture and put the food or water dish on top of the entreince of the hide to prevent them from getting away. When I'm doing the yearly srubs I put my geckos in deli cups. Deli cups are inexpensive, and are perfect for holding your geckos while your doing cleaning, especially when you have a lot of geckos.

I spot clean daily, replacing water cleaning feces ect, but the whole cage just needs to be cleans about once a week, depending on how much of a mess the gecko makes (which isnt very much, they're clean animals).
I put my gecko in plastic container with her hide and she doesnt mind just sleeps in her hide while im doing it.

Well i change the "poopie" area when ever its soiled (i use paper towels) and i also scrub the water dish when they run out of water, ussually ever few days. I change all of the paper towels if they become dirty. but i ussually disinfect all the hide, dished, ect every week to every other week. When im cleaing cages I place my leos in shoe boxes with their humid hide. Ussually doesnt take me very long so they arent in the shoe boxes long. :-]
