Russian Tort toenail question

pyrowoman Oct 01, 2004 12:09 PM

I know this has probably been asked several hundred times before, but my Russian tort's toe nails seem to be getting really long. Is it ok to clip them? I know how to clip toe nails (i work at a vet's office and thats what i do) but i don't want to hurt him. Just a worried mom i guess! Any info would be great. Thanks so much!

Yes it is okay to clip the toe nails, you can also put something in his enclosure.. like a few pieces of ceramic tile, to help wear the nails down and keep them trim. If you feed him on a ceramic tile it will help to keep the beak trim.

Just clip the clear part. I've had to trim my Egyptian's claws & he didn't seem to mind at all.
