QUICK KING QUESTION.......

03svtcobra Oct 01, 2004 12:34 PM

i have had and kep cali. king snakes before. they are great. but i am now looking to get a mexican black king. i was wondering if the care for them is the same as the california king? also, if i dont get a mex. black king i was gonna get an albino cali king? are the care for the albino the same as the regular cali kings?

also, i fed all my kings on mice but i hear of people feeding them other snakes, and frogs and other prey. 1. i will not feed my king another snake but what else do they eat or can they eat in captivity?

thanks
steve

regular kings, mexican black kings, and cali alibino kings are all the basically the same. the only diffrence besides looks (color, patterns, size, etc) is the same as the diffrences between you and me.... PERSONALITY. some snakes like to eat alot, some like to stay in their hide all day, some climb alot, some like heat some like water, but the basic care and maintinance (substrate, temp, food) is the same. as far as what you can feed a kingsnake, i was always told that some eat frogs in the wild, but feeding it a frog isnt a good meal and isnt cheap (plus, most frogs/toads are poisoness so it may get sick). you can also feed it anything like a hamster, gerbal, etc.etc. kingsnakes do eat other snakes in the wild but im not going to start that conversation all over (you have a good plan just dont do it) Hope that helps.
