Some very excellent new Okeetees..(pics)

kw53 Oct 01, 2004 01:02 PM

Been away from corns for a few years, but an outstanding specimen of even a readily available species will turn me. Been seeing some really fine wild strain corns around the last few years, and it had to happen.

Got some Abbott line Okeetees from SMR, gorgeous little hatchlings. The ones that have shed--probably the third shed of their lives--have started to change color, and look awesome already. Don took good care of me, and I'm grateful. I'll post some shots when I get them, but you can see the Abbott line adults at the South Mountain Reptiles website.

Went for some Love line Okeetees from Chris Shulse, who had an ad in the classifieds. Can't go wrong with a Love Okeetee. Chris picked me some winners, and offered a nice quantity price. Great service, prompt delivery, excellent animals--it's all good.

Jim Merli has bred two outstanding lines, Tom Chaing's and Jeff Yohe's, to create what I guess would be the Merli Line. I got some of his hatchlings, and they are incredible. Tons of color right out of the egg, good size--everything an Okeetee aficionado could want and more. Jim had pix of the parents, a yearling and a hatchling in his ad, and he graciously allowed me to re-post them here, for any who missed them.

The parents

A yearling

A hatchling--some of mine look exactly like this

Thanks Jim, for letting me use your photos, and for great animals and service.

That's three home runs in a row--I guess the Gods owe me a flat tire....

Good luck with all your animals! Post some pics up soon! I'm a big fan of the wild types as well as opposed to the "designer" morphs. Here's my beautiful little South FL male.......

What a nice snake! Almost looks like a Rosy. I have always favored the wild types, but since I do cherry pick my breeders, I can't say that my lines are truly random as in wild populations. Still, while there are some knockout morphs around, my heart is with the native forms. Yours is a sweetie--love that buckskin ground color.
