I have recently obtained 2 pairs of Cuora mccordi. I am keeping them on 3-4 inches of cypress mulch. There is a shallow water container for swimming and some bark pieces. Temps are between 75-90 in the enclosure during the day and at night, temps dip to about 65-70. Humidity is kept high by the top being enclosed and the mulch staying dry. The turtles have mostly been burying into the mulch and staying buried. I am wondering if this is indicative of temps being too cool, too warm, or if perhaps they are simply shy at this point. I'd appreciate any comments that others can provide. Do others successfully keep this species WITHOUT mulch deep enough for digging? Thanks in advance. -Larry in NYC
