Brazilian Behavior?

chrindels Oct 02, 2004 10:30 AM

Hello everyone
I am new to this forum but I have a question about my brazilians that i think you might be able to help me with I have what is supposed to be a pair of adult rainbows. Today I noticed courtship behavior between the two of them but it was obviously being instigated by the "female" . she was using her spurs to tickle the male and trying to line up vents but he seemed uninterested. I was wondering if this is in any way normal, or is it more likely that my female is actually a male? If that is so would "he" try to court another male? the odds of both of the snakes being sexed wrong I would think would have to be very slim any help on this issue would be very appreciated.
thanks in advance
Chris

Chris,
..If the snake was using spurs to stimulate the other snake it is about 100% certain that the snake is a male. There is a chance that the other snake is a male but a little more likely that it was also missexed. Perhaps the two snakes got mislabled when they were shipped or you put the wrong snake back into the wrong cage during cleaning or feeding?
