Found a rough green snake, should I keep it?

Rick1978 Oct 02, 2004 11:05 AM

I am not new to reptiles so you don't have to treat me like a total newbie. I have had a couple snakes in the past but mainly keep turtles and mantids right now. I found a small rough green snake today while out hiking. I am interested to know if this is a good specias to keep. I know it is a wild snake but it appears they are quite common around here. It is a little less than a foot long. ANy info anyone can give would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well I am reading a lot of articles on how this snake is hard to keep. So I will release it. Thanks.

I'd keep it....I dont think they are as hard as everyone says...they eat crickets or other small insects and are very arboreal..just give them a nice arboreal enclosure and some crickets and see what happens..i suppose if it starts to not do well you could release it back..
