Can i mix a ball python with a common boa?

mrellis1181 Oct 02, 2004 02:02 PM

Hi, i currently own a ball python (2ft long) abd i'm thinking of buying a common boa (2ft long). Would it be ok to put the boa in with the python for a few days before my new viv arriived? What would be the problems (if any). Like a say it would be for only a few days and i've heard it should be ok.

Thanks in advance

You should always quarantine a new snake for at least a month and
sometimes more. You should keep the new snake in a seperate room. Check for mites and any illness that can be spread to your pet that you already have. Good luck.

Besides quarintine, snakes of different species generally don't interact well with each other. In your case, the ball python would be outgrown by a common boa (boa constrictor?) in a matter of weeks. Over a period of maybe 1-2 months you "could" put them together, but the boa would very quickly outgrow youy python and most likely would make it a snack.

Generally it's just not a good idea to put two species in the same cage.

Hope that helps

Not a good sight to see... but that's pretty informational and a good picture to answer those questions. The snakes were pretty close to being the same size too! Amazing little creatures.

Funny, my name is Sean too
