I am considering buying a rat rack and just wanted to know some opinions of wood racks vs. steel racks. I know thw steel ones are more durable, but the wood ones are so much cheaper! What is the downside of having a wood rack?
Thanks, Kevin

How many tubs are you going to set up? My experience is that 3 or 4 rat tubs took care of all my needs (2 corns & 2 savu pythons), with enough leftovers to freeze. I actually haven't raised any since spring (I think?). Still working my way through the frozen ones. I didn't use any rack. I used motar mixing tubs with 1/2" hardware cloth on a 1"X2" wooden frame for the top. Then I put 2 1"X2"s (or 2"X4"s) on top and set the next tub on that. $ high was the most I ever went. For water I used a automatic system from agselect.com.
Good Luck, and let us know what you decide.

P.S. there used to be plans for a wooden rack somewhere on this site.
