Strike one... Strike two...

mrellis1181 Oct 02, 2004 04:37 PM

Hi, i have a ball python, i've had him for about 6 months but he sometimes, when feeding, goes in for the strike but completely misses. This will happen a few times until he finally gets it. He can't be blind as he finds his way about ok. I can't figure it out and it's starting to worry me. Also a couple of days ago he seemed really agitated, rubbing his head all over the place and striking at nothing. He isn't due a shed for a couple of weeks yet.

Can anyone shed any light on this

thanks

For what it's worth, my ball python has lousy aim during feeding unless the food item is dangled directly in front of her hide. Is yours rubbing the top, chin, or nose? How is your humidity? Mine gets a bit agitated if the humidity falls too low. Just my experience. . .

humidity is ok, rarely falls below 40%, usually around 50% so thats ok. Its his chin and the sides of his head. Also, even if the mouse is dangled right infront of him he still misses. Fed him yesterday and he struck about 10 times. In the end i just left it in there and he go it.

My albino burm is notorious for missing at least twice... But I also think that when we feed the kids, we stand and watch to make sure everything goes okay, so its either that shes a blonde, or getting conflicting heat signals from us...

But she isnt stressed, temps and hum are great... She just doesnt get taken out as much lately
