Albon suspension 5 %

JAG Jun 27, 2003 01:14 PM

Does anyone know if I can by albon suspension online without a vet persrcription?

I lost my leo a few days ago to coccida and he perscribed me albon for her. He told me not to worry about treating my other two even though they both shared a cage with her at one point or another. I called today and he said that they only way he would give albon to me if I get a complete exam, fecal and so forth done for both to get done will be about 250-300 bucks for both. Neither have any signs of it but you know how leos can be....stubborn and not show signs for a while. I know I might be trying to get the cheap way out, but I dont have a lot of money either.

Thank for reading.

First off I must tell you that your Veterinarian is an idiot and a rip-off artist to boot. Coccidia is one of the most contagious diseases any Reptile can contract. He should have told you immediately that any Geckos that were in contact with the one that died were infected, and needed to be treated for the disease. He should have prescribed the Albon at that time.

I know because in 1998 I purchased a group of Striped and Jungle phase Leopard Geckos from a very prominent Reptile breeder that had the disease when I received them. I was able to save 6 of the 10 Geckos with the help of Dr Roger J. Klingenberg D.V.M.

For those of you who are uninformed on who Dr Klingenberg is, he is the author of UNDERSTANDING REPTILE PARASITES. It is published by the highly acclaimed Advanced Vivarium Systems® series. Here is a link to it. -http://www.avsbooks.com/avs/repparasites.asp

The very cool thing about Dr Klingenberg is that he does phone consultations. They are not cheap but are under $100.00. That will include the consultation, a detailed description of how to treat the disease and the Medicine needed to treat the disease. In this case he will send you the Albon and all of the dosing instructions. He will also include the instructions on the fastidious cage cleaning needed to get rid of it.

I am including his contact information below.

I'm sure you're busy with geckos and music, but the more experienced breeders here, the better.

Take care

That's a rip off!!! When Beanie went to the vet she had a thorough examination and a fecal done and I was givin medicine and it was only 70 bucks!!! (*Yes, the vet is a reptilian and avian specialist veterinarian*). Wow!!! Check around to see if there are any other reptile vets around!!!
