Does the digestion process work the same for a pacific gopher as it does for a northern pine because of the difference in habitat. Pines eat smaller prey becuse the cooler climate makes it a slower process in digestion, but a gopher living in the desert has the heat to help aid in a quicker digestion... so if all of the above is assumed correct, then would I be correct in assuming that the gopher can consume prey like a king snake would (being that it is larger prey, but the warmth allows for quick digestion)? A pine obviuosly eats smaller prey so as the meal does not "rot" in the stomach if it is too large to be digested quickly. So what I really need to know is if a gopher should be treated in a pine's "digestive category" or rather a king's "digestive category".
