This little guy is from a site in Racine Co., WI that is considered by the State to have a hodge-podge population of T. butleri x T. radix intergrades. It sure looks like a Butler's gartersnake to me though. I found about two dozen of these within an hour under some downed silt fence. Sorry, I was having a bit of a bad focus day and it was taken in low light. I have one of these at home right now and could get a better photo if anyone was interested. These snakes are sweethearts.
