I caught this little gem about 40 yards from where the large one I posted was about a week ago. She is only about 28 inches and is going to be a future breeder. She has already fed on a frozen thawed fuzzy when I put her in her quarantine tank.

Was it legal to collect? I thought they were endangered in all states where they live.
Make sure you know the laws on venomous if you are to breed. Ship delta, cant sell those to several states, must have permits, etc.
Aside from all of that, great find! Nice color on her.
In the state of Georgia there is no law against keeping and breeding NATIVE venomous reptiles. I would though like the law to change so that all native snakes of Georgia be kept instead of just the Native venomous seeing as all that law is for is so the hillbilly rattlesnake roundup good ole boys can slaughter tons of rattlers each year. I hate that so very much and I am telling everybody here that from experience I have seen some great rattlesnake terrain here in Ga. go to S*** due to all the collecting these idiots do. If they really knew and cared about the ecological balance that these awesome animals provide to the evironment maybe there would be less of these needless slaughter fairs around. I hate to get on a rant about this but I cant stand how Georgia can just sit by and let these morons destroy and mangle so many beutiful animals into such a rare state. If this keeps going on I will guarantee that this state wont have rattler left except for pygmies in a decade or so. well I hated to just spill out my opinions on this but thats how I feel. I am sorry for the long post and hopefully other can help out in the near future to help get this law changed.
I was just checking, I thought they were protected throughout their range. Just dont sell to CT, IN, KS, MD, MA, MN, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, RI, TX, VT, or VI because they are protected there. I too would like to see the roundups stop. I didnt know they did it in Georgia too. There should be federal legislation protecting the slaughter of rattlesnakes. It should be a crime punishable by death.
