Almost every adult axanthic I have seen has browned out alot with age. They are never the same black and white or grey as when they are babies. The main thing is that they will have no red or yellow to them. Some have a slight off color to them that is hard to explain when they start to darken. If it has darkened the brown will be a dark brown and never the gold or bronze color of a normal. Also the lower sides where it is usually yellowish will lack yellow color completely.
There is alot of variation in ALL the strains. There are some animals that keep a nice light colouration as they get older & some are not so nice to look at. Be careful, there are alot of people trying to rip people off by selling animals they think are Axanthic but are not. Buy from a reputable breeder - check around, ask for references or try to check w/ the person they acquired it from.
