Hi there:
Recently I ordered a western hognose snake. He/she is a captive-bred baby. I had seen baby hognoses in pet stores before, but when this one arrived the next day at my door, I was really surprised at how small this individual was. It was REALLY tiny, and all of my pinkies were too large for it.
I put it in it's setup, which it seems to be enjoyng, and gave it a drink of water. Well, today, the very day after I got it, it ate. The hognose ate 3 feeder guppies that were scented with my Western green toad, and placed in a cup with the snake.
It ate very well, but for reasons I cannot understand, several times, it bit its tail, started to swallow itself, and let go. Then it kept trying to swallow the floor of the cup, and the lid.
I am glad that it is acclimating so quickly. Hognoses rule!
