My musk Turtle...

DaneC020 Oct 02, 2004 11:13 PM

This is my turtle, I was wondering if my turtle looks fat or does it look unhealthy? I have had him/her for 2 years about and I just found out what type of turtle he/she is. I been feeding it reptile sticks from the store because it wont eat fish... It likes the sticks and it swims around a lot and seems healthy. I just was wondering how much I should feed her/him daily and what other foods should i try?

Looks fine to me. But I would try other foods besides the reptile sticks.
Some of the pellet foods for goldfish or cichlids are good and more 'natural' foods like cooked shrimp (sparingly) or feeder fish should be offered.
BTW......it is a girl.

Cool thanks... I have tried the feeder fish but she just kinda sits with them and hangs out ... Never tried to eat them or anything, i even poked her in the head with one while she was in the cage and she didnt try to eat it.

Thanks again!

EARTHWORMS! Very nutritious and wholesome, good Ca:P ratio.

Also try insects for a treat.

I feed mine a mix of different turtle pellets, cichlid food, freeze dried crickets, and freeze dried shrimp. I also feed them earthworms, lean beef, and their favorite pinky mice.

Yeah, my eastern muds LOVE pinkie mice. I buy them bulk frozen and thaw out one or two as needed. I can get 100 pinkies for $30 at a reptile show.
