A few days ago I was passing through Delaware and happened upon a rather attractive mature female northern water crossing the road. Luckly I had my camera so I got some shots and thought I'd share a few.

I would give my eyeteeth (whatever eyeteeth are) for a watersnake like that!

I hear you! I had been looking for a colorful, preferably female, northern for some time. I went to my car to bag her, but after sitting there for about ten minutes thinking about it I decided to release her.

Partially that was because I assumed that with me being from out of state, taking her would likely have been illegal. Also though, I am traveling so much right now that I don't need to be adding more animals to my collection.

I feel leaving her the the right thing to do, but trust me, it really hurt to do so.

Very nice! That snake has some really nice red. I can bet it was tough to release.
