Brooksi X Floridana

Coach Oct 03, 2004 08:50 AM

I am aware of the new designations but I just wanted to be clear on what we are talking about. I have a few true brooksi and crossed a male to a very nice light phase floridana of unknown locale. Are these offspring considered mutts, floridana or what?

Nope they would be considered Floridana.A mutt or hybrid would be a Floridas King to a Cornsnake or any other snake thats not a common King (getula).

A lot goes to the definition of "floridana". If You only call South Florida Kings {floridana} then the young would be intergrades, as the darker "Florida" would be considered floridana x getula, or a penninsula intergrade.

If you consider SFK's to just be a color form, then it is still floridana as would the snake your breeding to. Thus the young would be floridana.

There seems to be no peace with this issue....
