How do you choose your boa?

calienteA1 Oct 03, 2004 10:51 AM

I was curious, I bought a redtail from a breeder about 2-3 months ago, and i think it is a beautiful snake. But my question is, how do you know which ones are worth more money? For example, some of the babies had pink stomachs and some were completely white. Some of them had alot of black on there scales. Some of the snakes were more brown, and some were more of a gray color. Personally I like the lighter colored ones with less black scales. Does it matter if they have a long tail? I guess if you could tell me which are more desirable it would be a help.
Thankyou

The Number 1 thing is what you like. What one breeder may think is a $300 normal you or me might not like the looks of it but he or she may have a $40 snake that you think is gorgeous. For example i saw a Columbian boa with a brick red pattern and paid $250 for him and at the same place i got a $50 female that i liked too. So all in all i choose what pleases my eye not what the high price market wants. I look at it like this i have to look at it every day and i don't want to get one for a specific pattern or color if i don't like just so i can post pics here or there and say see i'm hip. Thats my 2 cents on the subject hope it helps. Paul
