Hey man,
did you ever get out into the field and find Collareds like you were hoping to? I don't know how the weather is in texas, but for some strange reason it seems to be getting cold here in CA.....hmmm. =) I'll talk to you soon,
-Phil

Hi Phil,
It's great to hear from you. I was able to make it out there for a day after we spoke, and even though I was unsuccessful in finding any crotaphytids, I did find other interesting wildlife. It's great to go out there, but it's hard to do so with all the animals we have here at DWA. I'd really like to go west into Arizona and Nevada, or even north into Oklahoma; but that'll have to wait until next year. The weather at the time was not very favorable, which could account for the absence of collareds, and the weather now is beginning to change rapidly.
All the best to you,
Fabian

It's October already but the lizards are still running like mad here in Southern Nevada. The past week I seen two lizards probably juvenile/adult collared running like lightning in the backyard. One appeared to chase a spot where I had seen a female side blotched lizard and the other ran under a bush when I startled it. The speed and senses these lizards had I don't know how anyone can catch them even more than a glimpse.
Hi there,
I am assuming you live on a hillside to be seeing Crots. in your backyard. Are they normally common in your backyard? I have tried the whole release things in my yard, see if they will live here, and have gotten a pair of Desert Iguanas, and Desert Spiny Lizards to live in my yard. I guess you can't beat natural habitat. Shame it seems to be going so fast. Oh well. Hope to talk soon,
-Phil
Las Vegas Henderson is growing so much that sadly it is taking over lots of lizard land. I have been living at the bottom of Black Mountain. It hasn't been to hot lately 80-low 90s but the black rocks sure absorb heat. The mountain is just like a big pile of rocks with lots of washes, places lizards love. I mostly see side blotched lizards, I think that's why the collared love hanging around. Baby lizard has almost a third black band and a fourth black spot below that. I think it's camouflage. I have also seen a sagebrush "bluebelly", speckled whiptail, and striped whiptail
I want to catch every kind of lizard there is, just because I've seen them doesn't mean I have been able to catch them.
I can't wait until I move to Northeastern Nevada there's horned lizards there soo cute, but I don't think they were ever really meant to be pets.
