New male is attacking female

drykilllogic83 Oct 03, 2004 06:57 PM

At a reptile show I purchased an adult blizzard leo to breed with my two female leos at home. When I put him in the cage he started hunting the other geckos. He ended up biting one of my females on the head. Is this normal for newly introduced males? Right now I have the male in a 20-gallon glass cage that is inside the 60-gallon cage with the two females. I am hoping that maybe this will help the geckos get more acquainted. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey,

First off, did you just get him recently and put him in without quarentine? That alone isn't a good idea if you did.. But, if you did and you put them in together, it's common for male Leos to nip the females when courting.. But hunting them, no. I hope this helps a little.
