Supplements?

melisondra Oct 03, 2004 07:54 PM

Im looking online to buy a new supplement since mine is old and doesnt seem to work well. Can you guys give me a good brand(s) to try? Ive heard a couple names used on here alot, such as miner-all, but im not exactly sure which one would be best. I have an adult male veiled and POSSIBLY possibly i might be adopting a young panther in the future.

What do I need to look for in a supplement? I understand calcium obviously, but should that be it? Are the vitamins chameleons require automatically in the caclium powder or would I need a different one? Sorry for sounding so stupid but ive only used one supplement for along time now and enver really thought about it. Im not sure what im looking for. Thanks all

Erin

Miner-all is the best. Get miner-all outdoor if you keep your cham outside and miner-all indoor if you kkep him inside. another good brand is repcal

I use miner-all after 6 months of using herpcare cal/d# and I noticed SUPER improvements in mood, activity and colours. I use the vit-all gutload from sticky tongue farms, and it is AMAZING! I use it along with veggies and fruit for water. I put a dish in with 1k crickets and it's gone in 2 minutes, they love it. I use it instead of a multivitamin because of it's intense concentrations of the vitamins. Goes great with the miner-all, and isn't too pricey compared to some gutloads.

A few reminders: Supplements are just that! They should be considered "gap fillers" to a good quality fresh gutload. If you aren't feeding your insects well all the dusts and supplements you care to try won't make up the difference. Most pet shop commercial gutloads aren't very complete, so read the labels and compare them. Fresh dark leafy greens, veggies, fruit, and fortified cereal grains make a good mix. Make sure that you get both a mineral (calcium etc) supplement AND a vitamin supplement. You'll need to use them on different schedules, not daily except for tiny fast growing babies. Don't store the 2 mixed together. Over time the vitamins and minerals alter each other's chemistry. It's fine to mix them when preparing insects for feeding.
