Well my friend has been having some problems with his mother. I wont get into the details, but last I heard is that his mother took his snakes and threw them outside for the dog to get, threatened to kill them with a knife, and beat him. He found his boa, but cant find his remaining ball. Things arnt looking good. I told him to call the police but he doesnt want to deal with anything anymore. I'm very worried about him and wish there was more that I can do.

He's ordering the burm, putting it in with his boa. He found the ball. I've brought up how bad it is for the snakes especially in a dysfuntional household as politely as I could. Sorry to be dragging this topic on. I'll do what I can for him and the snakes, and keep you updated on it in case he needs to find another home for it.

Sorry to say but I agree with Drkind. Your friend is adding fuel to a fire that seems to be getting out of control. Sounds like you may have to beat him to get him to realize what he's doing is REALLY REALLY wrong. Not saying his mothers methods are good or bad, but he ain't listenin! His judgment is horrible at best and he's gettin a burm!? Why not a machine gun or a distillery? It makes about as much sense! Good luck though. I hope you'll make a difference at some point.

I am so sorry to hear this kid is getting the burm, I hope the best for the poor snake that ends up with him, but I think we all know how this will end..............poor snake.

Do you all remember back when we were allowed to have reptiles as pets? You know before dumba$$ kids started to get burms and made the government put a stop to all reptile keeping? Yea it was cool too bad we cant any more..............damm kids.

The more I find out about how hes going to keep it the more worried I'm getting. It's going to be kept in a 40 gallon with a boa with mites, he doesnt have a steady food supply, doesnt care about the importance of heat and humidity, wont take it to a vet, said he couldnt find a vet for reptiles (I found one for him in minutes), I showed him a picture of a 12 foot burm, he said wow thats really big, but its a mans snake, doesnt know the expences, Hes getting one only because he like the albino color and albino balls are too expensive, hes going to college in a few years and believes that he will easly find a place that will care for them for him and give them back when hes done, and the list goes on. Hes lost one snake already, and isnt taking my warnings seriously. I've done all I can to get him to not buy it, but now I'll do all I can to help the animals. I have sooo much to say about this, but I know what would happen so I'll just leave it with this,

You have done everything you can do to help the situation, and for that you are a good person, but I think now would be a good time to wash your hands of it.

If he wont take the advice you are giving him now how do you know he will take it after he has the snake?

This really is a sad situation, both for the snake, and for you. You seem like you care a lot, wish more people did, but sometimes you just got to walk away.

Wait a second,

I was just thinking about what you said in that last post.He is only getting a burm cause he wants an albino right?

Why not an albino corn? They are not that expensive, and a lot easier to handle then a burm. Also at safer for him.

Now I don't think he should have any animal, as he has shown he can't care for them, but a corn would be A LOT better then a burm.

Just a thought.

I mentioned that to him, but he seems to like the yellow and white of a burm better. He likes the albino Cali king, but wont get one because he doesnt like the shape of their head. Something has to look a certian way or else its ugly to him. I have walked away from arguing with him a few times, but its too hard for me to ignore the suffering of an animal.
