The time is getting nearer for when Hecate should go into her pre-lay shed. And she's looking the part. Her colours are looking duller and more subdued than normal, and even her temperment is starting to go towards the more guarded and shy mode.
She is starting to look gravid somewhat already. Her lower 2/3 is plumping up and taking on the shape of eggs. She also was not particularly interested in eating during yesterday's feeding. She usually downs 2-3 small mice, but yesterday I barely got her to eat 2 fuzzies. She did finally eat them, after about 20 minutes of playing around with them.
Maybe someone else thinks she appears gravid? I think she'll probably be more obviously visible after her shed.
I've got my incubator set up and it's been running for a couple of weeks now, just to make sure that there aren't any bugs in the overall system. I did turn it down a little bit, and it averages around 81 now. Low temp will get down to 80 and up to 83 depending on room temperature. The humidity currently is 57%, but that's with almost dry vermiculite. I'll re-hydrate the vermiculite tomorrow and see how the humidity fares.
I got one of those 38 ounce deli-cups from LLLReptile just to see how it'd fit, and it actually fits pretty well. So I ordered a few more just in case.
Anyway, things seem to be progressing pretty smoothly.
