Egg at 51 days still hasnt hatched, Sibling hatched 44 days???

Crystall Jun 27, 2003 02:56 PM

Well..as I posted I hatched 2 babies last Thursday, they were at 44 days of incubation, and im still waiting on the last one to hatch. I know she is alive, I candled the egg a few days ago..but why is she taking so long??
I had an incident with my homemade incubator overheating, so I had to take out the eggs and put them in the same incubator as this egg. So I had to turn down the heat from about 89-90 to 82...you think this could cause her to not hatch sooner?
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!
BTW..the egg was incubated at 79-80 the first two weeks, and then increased to 89-90, and is now at 82.

Thanx,
Crystal Light

She should have hatched by now...but give her a few more days...she should be out, or hatching, by the time the egg has been in the incubator for 60 days. Hatching is one of nature's tests for baby reptiles and birds....sometimes babies are just too weak to do it. If 60 days rolls around, You might want to give the baby a little help by slitting the egg shell.

I used to incubate at 82-83 and it was almost like clockwork at 52 days. With those wild fluctuations, you'll never be able to guess when they'll hatch. Just hang in there and wait them out.

Thanx for the info guys.
One more thing..the egg is soft, the others were like that before they hatched, and this one has been this way for awhile now.
I dont know why.
Any ideas? Its not rotting or anything, its just really soft, and bends in your fingers.
