one of the far western viridis.
Lets say Southern Pacific Rattlesnake (although I can't say that it isn't a northern).

This one here's a Brattler. You do know that Bullsnakes and Rattlesnakes have been interbreeding in the wild, right? Well, this is what you get whan that happens. It's a fairly dangerous animal. It kills by inflation. It gets the fangs from the rattlesnake parent and the hissing from the bullsnake parent. What it does is to bite, then start hissing and inflates it's victim like that. It's not funny. Stop laughing. How would you like to be stuck out in the woods with a leg as big as a truck tire? I knew one guy that was out herping and needed to...well...suffice to say he was bitten and inflated on the Gluteus Maximus. His butt got as big as a Buick. He looked like my Aunt Gussie, except for the hair and warts. He didn't have any of that. Fortunately he had Mexican for dinner the night before and was able to deflate himself.
Luckily, I manufacture and sell a Brattler Bite Emergency Deflation Kit. I just happen to be running a special this week. Just send me $1,495.62 + shipping and I'll send you your very own BBEDK. And, for a limited time, I'll upgrade it to the Pro model for free, normally a $1.39 value. Don't be inflated without one!

Well, good try on the SP rattler guess. I probably would have guessed the same. Not Northern either. Although it is found in a northern state.
As far as the Bratler goes.. I couldnt stop laughing. People mistake the Gophers for rattlers out here all the time! I guess unless your a herper, they all look the same.
Hmmmm, so it is a northern state this little one comes from. Interesting that there is only ONE species of rattler in this Southern part of the state. But then you go down one state and can find all kinds of venomoids. Almost as many as you could find in Arizona.
Any ideas yet?

Please send me one of those emergency kits asap! The check is in the mail. Please do not wait for the arrival of the check.
~~Greg~~
It's on the way, Greg. Please stay out of Brattler territory until it arrives.
Testimonials:
A Famous Herpetologist writes: "Oldherper's Deflation Kit saved me last year. I was bitten by a Brattler and badly inflated while trying to PIT tag it for field studies. Had I not been prepared, I might have stayed puffy for days. If I couldn't fit back into my car to get back to a hospital the situation could have turned disastrous. I could have missed dinner, or worse. I owe Oldherper big time."
A Famous MD specializing in snakebite who has his own TV show writes: "Oldherper's Brattler Delation Kit is essential field gear for anyone who ventures into Brattler country. I wouldn't be surprised if Oldherper gets famous from this or wins a Nobel prize or something. I don't know why I didn't think of this. I'm usually pretty smart."
A lady who is not Oldherper's mom writes: "I'm so proud of him! I knew he would do better than his dad says."

The kit consists of (in order of importance):
1. A fifth of Jack Daniels
2. My deflator, which is a high-tech device invented by me after many hours of research at the local bar. I can't reveal the trade secrets of the design, but even though it looks an awful lot like an 18 guage hypodermic needle that you can buy anywhere for 10 cents, that's not what it is. Trust me, I never lie except for personal gain or to get out of trouble.
3. A little round label in the shape of a bull's eye. You stick this on the affected part so you know where to stab with the deflator.
4. A wooden rolling pin.
5. A flare gun.
6. A plastic spork.
7. A roll of toilet paper.
I can't disclose to you in here the fact that Rattlesnakes and Bullsnakes do not interbreed because that would be devastating to the sales of my Deflator Kits.

I would buy the kit, really, it sounds like a great deal, except, I just dont feel there is quite enough Jack in the it to make it totally worth it.
Does it come with crown as an option?

Yeah, the Crown is part of the Deluxe upgrade. The upgrade price is $1.39, but I have to charge an extra $300.00 shipping because Crown is so much more valuable.

ehem......the Pacific guess was MUCH closer to the correct answer. CLOSER. This would be a native to the USA.
Only species of rattler in the southern part of this state.
Is a newborn.
There are many more species in the state beneath me. And the most species of snakes in the state beneath that.
So figure out my location....and you may be able to figure out the species.

I say it's a Great Basin Rattlesnake, you live in Idaho maybe?
Lutosus (great basin)
Goodjob. Got the state and all huh?
Idaho, Great Basin. Saw 5 yesterday. 2 adults, 3 newborns. 1 Racer and 1 Gopher. Twas a wonderful day.
Congrats!
I guessed C.v.lutosus this morning. Of course, I finger-checked it and hit the "I" key instead of the "U" key because they are side-by-side on the keyboard and then hit "post message" before I noticed it, which resulted in a misspelling, which I suppose disqualifies me.
Now my feelings are hurt.
OK, OK...I'll tell you what. If you let me be the winner, I'll throw an extra fifth of Jack into your kit.
