just some new Harlequin photos...

gray Oct 04, 2004 06:48 AM

My Harlequin litter has shed twice and is approaching 4 months in age. I've learned that these kids are similar to Hoggies in that they undergo dramatic visual transformations and really glow in the late afternoon and evening. But of course that is when I don't have any sunlight to work with. From previous experience I had pretty much given up on the thought of taking indoor photos however these boas motivated me to give it a try again. Well, I was surprised to find that I actually liked some of the photos.....so I thought I would share.

Here is a couple of original birthing photos:

Here are the updated photos (3.5 months later):

they just keep getting better and better. Not bad for indoor pics either, I know how hard it is to get decent ones!

Actually I prefer to shoot 99% of my pictures indoors, many of the subtle colors & shades are wiped in outdoor shots, and,I have to continually change the settings on my cameras prior to shooting outdoors, then back, before I can resume shooting in the snake room...I'm extremely picky about over exageration of color,so it takes a lot of time & deleted shots, for me shooting indoors allows greater control of the variables.(In my experience anyway?)...those babies are looking great! just wait until they turn two! that's when I really think they look their best!!!...here's a "pure" Harlequin from one of my litters earlier this year, starting to show some color now...(this pic lost some clairity in resizing,I shot it in really high res.)

It's interesting to see how the black borders suddenly disappear halfway through a tail saddle as you would see on a hypo. Some tail saddles with black borders and some without. Great looking animal. Which reminds me.....do you have a recent photo of your F3 straight Harlequin? I think that one is two years by now.
