Gray tree frog hibernation question

baztastik Oct 04, 2004 09:10 AM

I have a gray tree frog who is from Michigan. I am assuming that he will continue to frolic about the terrarium as long as the temperature in the terrarium remains warm like it was in the summer. Does anybody know if there is a need for gray tree frogs to hibernate according to an internal cycle unrelated to cold temperatures? Nothing I've read indicates that this is the case.

Despite his origin in the northern climes, the frog will quite probably continue to do well with no hibernation period. If it should cease feeding, it might be best to cool it for a few weeks, but I dont think you'll be faced with that alternative.
If you are going to cycle it for breeding, hibernation should be more strongly considered. Good luck/Dick
