internal parasites? problem with tail

longlizzard Oct 04, 2004 10:53 AM

i picked up a sick looking leo from a petsmart and have had it now for about a year. when i got this leo, the tail was very very thin, more so than a normal young leo should look like. a year later, her tail has not thickened and may have gotten even more thin. she eats really well, sheds really well, and is by far, my most active leo and she seems fairly happy and tame.

i do have her in the same enclosure with 5 other leos her age all of which are growing rapidly and have nice plump tails.

anybody have any suggestions on what to do about the tail? any kind of medication to give her?

thanks!

Sounds like she might have worms. Rather than trying to treat the problem yourself, you should take a fresh fecal sample to the vet to verify what she might be carrying. Your vet will then (hopefully) prescribe the proper medication.

it all depends on the type of worms, there are several different kinds, each with a different medicine to cure them. you should read a book called Understanding Reptile Parasites. its very informative and comes with pictures and everything. unfortuantly i dont have it on me or i would list some of the different worms/meds
