I know toads are supposed to hibernate in the winter when they are out in the wild. Do toads have to hibernate if they are kept as a pet? And if they don't is that harmful to them because they're supposed to??

its up to you. captive toads dont have to hibernate, the only reason they do it in the wild is because food will become scarce.
if you dont change thier temp or feeding habits they wont hibernate and will be just fine.
