What do you guys think? I'm not a fan of paper towels for snakes as they tend to get under them easily,(risking a burn). Pine shavings have been proven to cause respitory problems. So what do you guys think is the best substrate to use?

First off...paper towels? I think that wood chips/shavings are just fine. They have many diffrent brands, some w/less dirt and dust, edges, etc. If you insist on not using wood chips I would personally use sand. I've bin told that they like it just fine. I've seen them dig into/under the sand and when cleaning all you need is a scooper. It also comes in diffrent colors. You can also put flat rocks on the bottom. I dont remeber exactly what they're called but the halve a deffinit problems w/adding too much weight and being hard to clean. Last and deffinitly least (except for maybe paper towels) is reptile carpet. All it really does is keep your snake from living directly on the glass. Wait... it does add alittle green to your tank. HOPE THIS HELPS
