Quick update on hatchling Regal Ringneck...

kw53 Oct 04, 2004 12:48 PM

The little fellow has fed voluntarily on a small Banded Gecko. I have more geckos, so I'm thinking to feed him a few times, get a bit of bulk (if that term can be applied to something so small) on him, and hibernate him with the rest of the crowd. There won't be any geckos during the winter, so he may as well snooze.

Congrats on getting it to feed. My little regal is steadily refusing F/T snakes, and I only have a few live ones left, which will last about 2 weeks. I'm just hoping it will take some F/T, or hope I can get some live Tantilla during the winter, or I may have to hibernate her as well as my northerns.

Also, anybody out there want to get me some live or DOR, live preferred, small snakes, less than 8 inches long, drop me an email.

Hello,

Will you please share your experience on how to hibernate your ringneck snake with us, I want to know more details on the whole process like temperature; tank set up; do you keep them indoor or outdoor; do they need burrow deep in the soil; when do they come out of hibernation and any other helpful tips will be higly appreciated.

I brumated my litttle northern last year, even with no experience with captive hibernation, other than some helpful hints. I had the little snake in a 10 gallon tank, with 3 inches or potting soil and 2 inches or moss covering that, also a water bowl. I left the snake there from December 7th to March 9th. I put the tank in a closet in my attic where the temp. stayed at 50 degrees.
