incompatibility?

greatscott Oct 04, 2004 02:17 PM

Why/how are certain strains of albinos incompatible? In a het to het, or any type of breeding, like homo to het, or homo to homo,(kahl to Sharp), what happens? Do they not produce albinos, do they produce deformed/dead babies, do the offspring have two type of albino gene?

You answered your own question with the last thing you said. Kahl albino and Sharp albino.. are yes both "albinos" but the gene with makes them albino is different. If you breed a kahl to a Sharp albino (or vice versa).. no the babies will not come out deforemed =) .. they will come out looking like normal babies that are het for a kahl/sharp albino.

Are there other strains that are not compatible with each other or with the Kahl and Sharp strains?

If there are other strains, they have not yet been discovered. At the moment there is only Kahl and Sharp strain albinos
