Anyone had problems with a ball injecting aspen?

joseph02 Oct 04, 2004 03:40 PM

I have male ball python that had a large amount of aspen in his month after feeding three weeks ago.

I removed the aspen with twizzers [carefully] and thought I had the problem fixed.

Now he will kill his prey and start to eat the animal...then stop...I have found two rats killed with salvia on there head uneaten.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Tony Hurt

I've been using aspen for months and haven't had any problems, however, I do NOT feed my snakes in their cages. If you feed them outside their cages you wont have to worry about them injesting the substrate.

the only time i found a feeder with silva down 1/3 of it's body uneaten is when the feeder was too big for the snake.i have too many snakes to take out and feed so i dry the feeders and then place them on plastic in the tub,i cut the plastic pieces from the tub lids.have fun!

................i was just thinking,is it possible the snake still has aspen in it's throat and when the feeder starts going down it touches causing the snake to spit the feeder out?
