Dart Frog Owners/Breeders in Tampa Area Florida?

malfet Oct 04, 2004 03:42 PM

After attending the Florida International show over the weekend my girfriend and I have decided to get some dart frogs. We found it much smarter to wait to get them till we had the set up all complete. We've begun work on setting up our tank, we are going with a false bottom with a cartridge filter pump to make a waterfall. The care and setup shouldn't be much of a problem since I have kept quite a few different species of frogs. I'm just wondering if anyone in the Tampa Bay area knows anywhere the frogs themselves can be obtained. I'm haveing a very hard time finding pet stores with working numbers let alone dart frogs. Thanks for any help sorry for the long post.

I don't know of any pet stores that carry them. But if you are up for the short trip down to Sarrasota, Silver City Serpentarium is there. They often have a varity of captive bred darts.

As you may know the Tampa show comes around twice a year. Then there are two that I know come to Orlando, but there may be a third. And of course the biggest show around comes to Daytona every August.

If you are ever up in Gainesville, give me a heads up and I will give the grand tour of my 135 gallon viv.

Thanks a bunch! That place in Sarasota looks pretty good they don't have any in stock but they have some gorgeous ones on there website. We're looking for either tincs or aurantas since I had read they were good for begginers. I'll also have to look into the shows. Big thanks for the offer if we're in Gainsville I'll have to let you know.

Thanks again.

I live in st. pete, there are two breeders here too. Bill Schwinn, and ray gurgui. I am sure you saw bill at the tampa show, he had a tank full of azureus, tank of cobalts, and a tank of green auratus. Ray was the guy who shared the table with him, with all the blue tongue skinks. Send me an e-mail at jakeviper33710@yahoo.com, and I will see what I can help you with.
