2 new pics of my Sav. Why is it's snout so long?

tann Oct 04, 2004 03:42 PM

I've only had "him" for 3 days so far. He's finally acting like a monitor by running to his hide spot everytime i approach the cage. He still hasnt shown much intrest in food and to my knowledge, hasnt figured out about the water bowl, but i guess it's the nature of the animal and it'll settle down after it settles in. He ate 2 fuzzys yesterday and i offered him one again today, but he hasnt touched it. Cage temp is ranges from 80-85, his hide spots are around 70-80 depending on which level he chooses and his basking spot is around 125-130. Humidity is around 60.

Once it starts eating like a monitor can and fills out some, the snout won't look long anymore. My advise to you is to completely leave it alone for at least a week, other than offering food and fresh water. If it doesn't eat the mice right away, just leave it, it will get it when it feels like it.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

yeah, thats what i figured. Someone told me females usually have longer snouts, dont know if it's true, but oh well. He/she is starting to venture out alittle more now. I'll look over at the tank and i'll see it sunning or walking around for a moment, but then it goes back to sleeping in it's 2 hide spots.
