I convinced my neighbor not to kill snakes and he rewarded me today with a freshly caught 4 1/2 ft gorgeous grey rat...this snake didn't bite or hiss. An hour after handling him I fed him a F/T small rat and let him go 3 hrs later....I get so depressed seeing most snakes D.O.R.(dead on road).It feels great to save one once and a while.

Keep up the efforts. The talking works! It has always amazed how quickly you can get people interested in snakes if they jsut lt you talk and show them a few docile animals. I had a disappointing episode a few years ago where a car in my neighborhood hit a Speckled King and then swung around because they wanted to be sure it was dead. They were honestly embarassed, however, when I stopped and picked up the mortally injured snake and told them a little about it.
