Why doesn't anyone sell them?

rabbitsmcgates Oct 04, 2004 08:29 PM

You would think that on a site called Kingsnake.com someone would be selling California Kingsnakes like mine, purplish-brown and pale yellow rings. But no. Just black and white ones, or some mutant with black and white. There are even some called Banana that are actually mostly black, with little or no yellow on them. Weird.

BTW, I do have just about every kind of cal king available, or did when everything hatched, and will again next year.

I would except my "digital camera" (bought on eBay) is about 40 centuries old and used by the pharoahs, I think. Everything either turns out blurry, rainbowed, or yellowed. I doubt I could get the purplish-brown to look purplish-brown. Lets call it brown and yellow banded. It has to look like a million other ones because the seller charged about 20 or 30 bucks for it and said he had no location for it. Its odd that no one sells any on here. I like its color better than plain old black and white, who woulda thought it would be the last one on the planet or something.
If I can find the camera (its junk so I don't use it) I will try to take a picture but I'm sure you have seen the kind before. I'm new to Kingsnakes so its unique to ME but to others its probably common as dirt. It would be nice to see pictures of its kind on here and think about getting another one somewhere.

take pics with a regular camera even a disposable, get it developed, scan it in or have the photo shop put your pics on disc. then we can see what you have.

Then that is quite common, and people sell them all the time. I usually wholesale my common stuff to a wholesaler in PHX. I produce quite a few brown cal kings with yellow bands, as well as a bunch of other morphs.

Are the ones you are talking about purplish-brown and yellow banded? I don't know how else to describe mine. Maybe other people just call them brown and yellow banded and ignore the purplish in the brown? I would think they would be common but I don't see any on here.

I am confused about the "purple" in your cal king unless you are describing a lavender (which are quite variable BTW). What color are the eyes?

Obviously a pic would solve the ID question.

I've seen what he's talking about. Cal kings that are REALLY high yellow make the brown appear purpleish in contrast. It's just you're eyes playing tricks on you.

Well, I thought your question was odd so I didn't look. (so stiff-necked) But I just did and they are blue, which is not possible, so maybe its weird color is because its getting ready to shed, and then it will just be a brown and pale yellow snake. That will be too bad. I even dreamed last night that I had a purple and yellow banded kingsnake.

Isn't that a lavender albino? mail me paul@paulpeacock.wanadoo.co.uk and I'll mail a pic of mine if that'll help
